Do you find yourself echoing the words of the prophet Isaiah, “truth is fallen in the streets” (Is. 59:14) of our day?  With the explosion of ever-shifting words, opinions, and information, truth is becoming a more and more rare commodity.  I believe there is a direct correlation between our timidity and our lack of appreciation for THE truth!  How do we appreciate and embody what is valid and true before our immutable God?

Psalm 119:95 “The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.”

Here are five emboldened quotes on truth:

  1. “Defend the Bible?  I would as soon defend a lion!  Unchain it, and it will defend itself.”  ~Spurgeon
  2. “Truth fears no questions.” ~Unknown
  3. “If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.”  ~Mark Twain
  4. “The naked truth is always better than the best-dressed lie.”  ~Unknown
  5. “A lie has speed, but truth has endurance.” ~Edgar J. Mohn
  6. “The truth is like a lion.  You don’t have to defend it.  Let it loose.  It will defend itself.” ~Augustine

Draw strength from the song Truth Is Marching On:

Some say His birth was of a virgin,
Some think His miracles can be explained away
Some say that He was just a good man,
Even though He died, He wasn’t really raised
Skeptics rise and speak their lies
There will always be cynics and scoffers.

Our faith has always had its noisy enemies
They may rise up but only for a moment
Yet we see evidence through the centuries
It’s Jesus Christ, He’s the Way, the Life.

Truth is marching on, truth is marching on
Down the corridors of time, Invincible, Divine
Until all that’s false is finally gone
Truth is marching on.

Down the corridors of time, Invincible, Divine
Until all that’s false is finally gone
Truth is marching on.

How do you view God’s truth-as a mild “kitty cat” or a “fierce lion?”  May I encourage you to simply let His truth roar!  In your home, work, church, and community, it is not as much about defending it as it is unleashing it.

How will that affect you and me?  Solomon says, “The wicked flee when no man pursueth, but the righteous are as bold as a lion” (Pr. 28:1).  Be real.  Be true.  BE BOLD-that is the intense beauty of lips, hearts, and lives filled with divine truth.
